It was WCW predecessor and the Number 2 Promotion compared to WWE back in the 80's it had stars, it made stars, and it had great matches. Without Jim Crockett Promotion there certainly would not be a Starrcade or a Great American Bash. Here is a special tribute to one the Greatest Wrestling Company

Top 3 Greatest Matches

1. Roddy Piper vs Greg Valentine

Dog Collar Match

Starrcade 1983

An awesome and very brutal match Viewers Discretion is Advised FYI. This had a great build with Valentine taking the US Title from Piper and injuring in his ear. Piper knew the only way to settle it was a Dog Collar Match. Which was a 12 foot long and 40 pound chain wrapped around both men's neck. Piper dominated most of the match until Valentine went for the injured ear. Piper began to loose lots of blood but managed to get the upper hand and win the match. As a result he lost 50 percent of his hearing in his ear.

2. Tully Blanchard vs Magnum TA

United States Title Match

I Quit Steel Cage Match

Starrcade 1985

Man oh! Man you talk about a rivalry just like Piper and Valentine this match was very violent and bloody. Blanchard and Magnum TA had a great feud for the US Title. Segment after Segment intensified the feud and we finally got the big payoff at Starrcade 1985. In an Anything Goes Cage Match both had great chemistry in the ring mainly because of the legit hate they had for each other. They used everything in this match but the Kitchen Sink. The breaking point came when Magnum used a large broken piece of wood from a chair causing Tully Blanchard to submit.

3. The First Wargames Match

The Superpowers vs The Four Horsemen

1987

One the greatest match concepts in Wrestling History took place in Jim Crockett Promotion called Wargames. It was the brainchild of Dusty Rhodes who was also involved in the match. It was a unique match involving 2 rings, 2 teams of five, and a steel cage. A coin tossed would determine which team would have the advantage. The rules were two men from each team start off in the ring to wrestle. The match ends when a member from any team surrenders. This is the funny thing about Wargames is that over the years the coin toss always seem to go to the Heels. They would have the advantage against the Faces. The first match was very bloody it involve the Superpowers ( Dusty Rhodes, Nikita Koloff, The Road Warriors, and Paul Ellering) against the Horsemen (Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Lex Luger, and JJ Dillion). The match ended with The Road Warriors giving JJ Dillion the Doomsday Device which  severely injured his shoulder and the Superpowers won the match.
