United We Stand

There had been many different factions that came together for a different goals. Some came together to take over the Company by winning every title and some were assembled to protect their leader here's a list of some the Greatest Factions in wrestling.

1. The Four Horsemen

The Horsemen are the greatest faction in wrestling history. Without the Horsemen you would have no NWO or DX or any other faction. There have been several different incarnations of the Horsemen over the years. The first lineup was Ric Flair, Arn and Ole Anderson, and Tully Blanchard. This lineup had a lot feuds with mostly everybody in the NWA but there main adversary was Dusty Rhodes. They manage to injure him on two occasions injuring his leg in a cage and infamously attacking him in a parking lot and breaking his arm. This lineup was very dangerous they constantly attacked anyone who got in there way and injured them just to make a statement. For instance they attacked the Rock N' Express and they broke Ricky Morton's nose. What made the Horsemen successful was that they were best friends and really lived their gimmick, which is why they had great chemistry. They were really at their peak in 1988 when they were joined by Barry Windham and won every major title in the NWA. This was also the same year Blanchard and Arn Anderson departed and joined the WWE. Anderson later returned to WCW and reformed the Horsemen this time with Flair, Ole Anderson, and Sting. This was short lived when they kicked out Sting, and they feuded with Luger and the Steiner Brothers. During this time they were joined by Barry Windham and Sid Vicious. When Flair and Vicious left WCW for the WWE the Horsenmen disappeared until 1993. Flair returned and reformed the Horsemen with Arn and Ole Anderson, and Paul Roma. They reunited again in 1995 with Brian Pillman and Chris Benoit joining the group. They feuded mostly with Sting, Savage, and Hogan. When Pillman departed they were joined by former Chicago Bears player Steve McMichael and by this time they turned face and feuded with the NWO. The final incarnation was Flair, Anderson, McMichael, Benoit, and Dean Malenko and they feuded with the NWO Elite. Flair finally won the World Title from Hogan, Benoit and Malenko won the Tag Team Titles. The team didn't last long because Steve McMichael retired from wrestling, and the group disbanded.

2. Degeneration X

DX was the most revolutionary and controversial factions they took over WWE during the Attitude Era. Without DX during the Attitude Era WWE may not have survived the ratings war against WCW Monday Nitro. The group was formed by Shawn Michaels and Triple H with Rick Rude and Chyna. They were very successful with there brash attitude, funny antics, and always finding different ways to create havoc in WWE. They were known to be very edgy and provocative at times but they could definitely back it up in the ring. They feuded mostly with the Hart Foundation and the Undertaker.  Michaels had to retire due to a severe back injury DX seemed to be finished until Sean Waltman aka X-Pac returned to WWE and joined the group along with the New Age Outlaws. The group started off as heels but turned face due to the cheers they were getting night after night in every arena. Their greatest moment came when they invaded WCW which would've been even better if they weren't locked out. The Team had a very memorable feud with the Nation and it culminated in a Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Title between Triple H and the Rock, in which Triple H won. The group disbanded the next year, Triple H had a successful singles run because he finally won the World Title. The 2nd incarnation of DX reunited again 1999 minus Chyna but they didn't have the same success as the previous years and broke up the next year. The team reunited again in 2006 this time with Michaels and Triple H but the team was a lot different because both guys were older and  couldn't do some of the edgier stuff they did in the Attitude Era. However they did have an entertaining feud with the Mcmahons which we saw a lot of funny moments but bad matches. They also had a feud with the newly formed Rated RKO which was Edge and Randy Orton which culminated in a Tag Team Title match in which Triple H suffered an injury and was out for most of 2007. They reunited one last time in 2009 but the only memorable moment they had was finally winning the Tag Team Titles from Big Show and Chris Jericho. After loosing the Titles Michaels retired because he lost to the Undertaker at WrestleMania. In 2012 all the members of DX reunited for the 1,000 episode of Raw and it was a great moment to see all of them together considering their differences they had years prior.

3. The NWO

The NWO was one of the most popular factions in Wrestling history. They dominated WCW for years and was a huge part of WCW dominating the ratings for 84 weeks. The group started off with three men Hogan, Hall, and Nash but as weeks went by new members was constantly added to group which was part of the downfall of the group. I was a huge NWO fan I still have an NWO coffee mug and a NWO Wolfpack Pencil Holder. One thing about the NWO is that it gave Hogan longevity. For  years he did the Red and Yellow good guy gimmick until he started getting booed in arenas. Just like the Horsemen they feuded with just about everybody in WCW from Sting, to Luger, to Flair, to the Steiners nobody was safe. They had great moments I think the greatest moment was when they first got together at Bash at the Beach. Another great moment was when the Giant joined. The NWO made a huge impact in wrestling and it really put WCW on the map as far as business and merchandising.

4. The Shield

The Shield was the last great faction from WWE. It consisted of  Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns. They were three young guys who made an impact by dealing with any injustice. They debuted at Survivor Series 2012 and attacked Ryback by putting him through the announcer's table.  From that point they went on a 7 month winning streak defeating the top talent in WWE. Their biggest win came when they defeated Sheamus, Big Show, and Randy Orton at WrestleMania. The streak came to a end when they lost to Orton, Daniel Bryan, and Kane on a episode of Smackdown. Their big break came at Extreme Rules 2013 when all three won championship gold. The group turned face in 2014 and feuded with first the Wyatt Family and they had a memorable feud with Evolution. The group disbanded that year when Seth Rollins attacked his teammates and joining Triple H ending one of the greatest factions in WWE.

5. The Fabulous Freebirds

The Freebirds was a revolutionary group in wrestling that made an impact in every territory they worked. It was Michael P.S Hayes, Buddy "Jack" Roberts, and Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy that formed in 1979. They were really at their peek during the time in World Class Championship Wrestling. They revolutionize the entrance by being the first to use popular rock music for there entrance. They started with "Freebird" by Lynard Skynard and later created their own theme called "Badstreet". Their biggest moment came when they had a heated feud with the Von Erichs which spanned out tons of memorable matches and infamous moments. During their time in WCCW they won the Six Man Tag Team Titles 6 times and became former Tag Team Champions. They moved on to the AWA and had a legendary feud with the Road Warriors. Unofficially winning the AWA Tag Titles but was later the decision was  reversed. They moved to WWE but only made one appearance but left when the promotion was planning to split them up. also they had an incident with Andre the Giant. They returned to WCCW and feuded with the Von Erichs until 1986 when they left WCCW for the UWF.  Buddy became the TV Champ and Gordy won the promotions heavyweight title. By 1987 they returned to WCCW this time turning on Michael Hayes and forming an ill-fated version of the Freebirds with Iceman King Parsons joining. Gordy and Hayes left WCCW in 1988 and came to WCW while Roberts retired from wrestling. Gordy and Hayes reformed the Freebirds this time with longtime secret member Jimmy Garvin joining the group. They won the Tag Team Titles in a Tournament and was involved in Wargames which they lost. Gordy left WCW and it was just Garvin and Hayes the next 3 years until both men retired from wrestling ending the legendary group.

6. Evolution

Evolution was a unique group because you would think with Ric Flair and Triple H in the group it would be all about them but it was to help mold Randy Orton and Batista as Stars. The group was suppose to be a modern day version of the Four Horsemen and there biggest accomplishment came when they won every major title in WWE. They feuded with all the top guys in WWE and in the end it made Orton and Batista one of the biggest names in wrestling.

7. The Dangerous Alliance

The Dangerous Alliance is a very underrated Faction they came at the right place and right time because Ric Flair left WCW disbanding the Horsemen so WCW needed a Heel Machine to feud with Sting. The Alliance was similar to the Horsemen only exception was it had 5 men in the group including Rick Rude, Arn Anderson, Larry Zbyszko, Bobby Eaton, and Steve Austin with Paul Heyman as their manager. They came together with a common goal to takeover WCW and they feuded with Sting, Ricky Steamboat, Nikita Koloff, and Dustin Rhodes. Their greatest match as group was against Sting's team in the Wargames which was a bloody and violent match after the match the group split with Zbyszko retiring, and Paul Heyman getting fired from WCW.

8. The Main Event Mafia

Main Event Mafia was the only good faction produced by TNA. They were on top for most of 2008 and 2009 dominating the entire roster. The group consisted of former World Champions from different promotions such as Kurt Angle, Sting, Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner, and Booker T. They came together to feud with the young homegrown TNA talent like AJ Styles and Samoa Joe. As good as the group was the negative aspect was Sting being in the group and they were Heels. It felt like he was out of place every time the group attacked someone he would just stand there and do nothing.  The group became watered down when Samoa Joe joined the group and it was awkward because he was feuding with them then he joined them, this was the beginning of the end. The group reunited again in 2013 with the original members Sting, Angle, and Joe. With the addition of Magnus and MMA fighter Rampage Jackson they feuded with Aces and 8s faction but it just didn't have the same success as years prior.

The Nation of Domination

The Nation was an interesting faction and very edgy because it seemed like on TV they believed they were due to racism. They didn't get what they want and they suggested Racism as the reason. The group originally started off with Farooq, Crush, and Savio Vega with Clarence Mason as there manager, along with other unknown members. The groups main adversary was Ahmed Johnson. Farooq later fired Savio Vega and Crush and added D'Lo Brown and Kama Mustafa a weird twist happened when Ahmed Johnson joined which really killed his momentum because he feuded with them for long time that it was awkard when he joined. Its almost like Superman joining the Legion of Doom plus Ahmed didn't stay long he was kicked out months later. They had there big break when the Rock joined and it really helped him because he was clean cut good guy who was booed for being who he was. When he joined the Nation he really started to gain momentum and we finally saw a superstar in him. As he became more popular dissension began in the group. The Rock would constantly steal the spotlight from Farooq even adding Mark Henry to the group. Things really escalated when the group attacked Farooq and the Rock became the new leader of the Nation. During this time they had a memorable feud with DX which we saw a series of Six man Tag Matches and also matches involving the leaders of both groups Triple H and The Rock. The feud ended when Triple H beat the Rock for the IC title in a Ladder match which both men was put on the map. After the feud ended the Nation broke up 2 months later and Rock became the biggest star in WWE.

10. The Hart Foundation

Bret Hart became an instant bad guy coming off the Submission Match with Steve Austin he felt as though the American fans turned on him so he turned on them. He formed the Hart Foundation with his brother Owen and his Brother-In-Laws Davey Boy Smith and Jim Neidhart along with Family Friend Brian Pillman. They were a Anti- American Faction that always got booed in America but was cheered in Canada. Their main adversaries was Austin, Shawn Michaels, and The Undertaker. Their greatest match was the 8 man tag team match at In Your House "Canadian Stampede" which was an awesome PPVfrom start to finish. They faced Austin, Ken Shamrock, Goldust, and the Road Warriors which the Hart Foundation won. Their greatest moment was when they first formed and when Bret attacked Vince on Raw. The group fell apart when Pillman died and they went on to feud with DX and the Nation. The group officially disbanded when Bret left WWE along with Bulldog and Neidhart because of the "Montreal Screwjob" and joined WCW.
