AWA was the number 3 promotion in the 80's. It was the training ground for stars who would end up leaving the company and become bigger stars in WWE or NWA. For example  Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, and Shawn Michaels. However AWA also had stars who remained loyal to the company such as The Crusher, Mad Dog Vachon, Greg Gagne, Ray "The Crippler" Stevens, Nick Bockwinkel, and Baron Von Raschke. AWA without a doubt stood out in the 80's because it had  legit Mat Style Wrestling.  Here's a special tribute to one the greatest promotions.
