The Greatest Matches
Over the years WWE has had Awesome matches that picking just one match from each era was impossible. Here is my pick for the Greatest matches from each era.
The Golden Era
Hulk Hogan vs Andre the Giant
WrestleMania 3
This match had everything you need for a money making event like WrestleMania 3. There were no greater stars to be involve than Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant. This match had an awesome storyline. Andre the Giant came on Piper's Pit with Bobby Heenan and challenged Hogan for the world title. He also went as far as ripping his shirt. Hogan's emotions told the entire story and set the parameters for what would be one of the greatest matches in wrestling. This is the match that put WWE on the map. This match happened at the twilight of Andre's career. Which made it a slow paced match. I rate this match 7 out of 10
The New Generation Era
Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon Ladder Match
With the departure of Hogan and other big names. WWE went in a different directions by building the company around younger talent like Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, and Razor Ramon. This match certainly prove that the New Generation was here to stay. They also proved that they can be big stars like their predecessors. Shawn Michaels and Scott Hall revolutionized the Ladder match. They also made the Intercontinental Championship mean something. This match put Shawn Michaels on the map. I rate this match 10 out of 10
The Attitude Era
Undertaker vs Mankind
King of the Ring 1998
This match happen when WWE was gaining momentum against WCW. The brutality and the violence played a big role is this match. Undertaker tossed Mankind off the Cell onto the announcer's table. Amazingly Mick got up and climbed back on the cell. Then he was Choke slammed through the cell. This match made Mick Foley famous. It was also infamous for the fact that his teeth was in his nose. There was also rumors that the Undertaker wrestled in this match with an injured ankle. I rate this match 10 out of 10
Ruthless Aggression
The Elimination Chamber Match
Survivor Series 2002
This Match was notable for a lot of reasons. It took place at Madison Square Garden which has been WWE's home for 3 decades. It was also the first Elimination Chamber match. It was for the World Heavyweight Championship. Triple H came off an awesome street fight match with his best friend Shawn Michaels at Summerslam that year. He was awarded the title the following month. Since holding the title Triple H defeated guys like Rob van Dam and Kane. It wasn't until Eric Bischoff came up with idea based off Wargames a similar match from WCW. He also used the concept from the Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match. The only exception was there were no teams involved in this match. This match involved Triple H, Kane, Rob van Dam, Booker T, Chris Jericho, and Shawn Michaels. I rate this match 9 out of 10
The PG Era
Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker
WrestleMania 25
This match certainly proved that Shawn Michaels and Undertaker had a whole lot left in them. The Undertaker's Undefeated Streak was involved. Which made the match interesting. Shawn Michaels came real close to ending the streak. There were some awesome moments in this match like Shawn Michaels entrance dressed in all white. Also Undertaker diving on the cameraman. I rate this match 10 out of 10
